Daniel José “Dr. G” Gaztambide

Dr. G is an assistant professor of psychology at Queens College-CUNY, and an analytic candidate at the NYU Post-Doctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. He is the author of A People’s History of Psychoanalysis: From Freud to Liberation Psychology and Decolonizing Psychoanalytic Technique: Putting Freud on Fanon’s Couch. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, he has committed his life to providing clinical services to underserved populations and generating research and scholarship at the intersection of clinical practice, public policy, and decolonial theory. He is on a number of editorial boards for psychology journals, and is an advisor on several community-oriented organizations. He is a past member of the American Psychological Association’s Taskforce on Strategies for the Elimination of Racism, Discrimination, and Hate, receiving a Presidential Citation for his service.
